Start-up Business Planning:  Strategy for an innovative construction product that could revolutionize the paving industry

 

ISSUE

Strong environmental and sustainability concept required a business plan for commercialization. Although the product held great promise, it required a business model and planning to successfully launch in Canada.  The product has successfully launched and demand is outstripping supply.

 

RESULT

  • Identified key cost and revenue drivers to develop a financial model to demonstrate the economics of the concept
  • Developed a business plan with key operational considerations (procurement, storage, distribution) and marketing issues (distribution and awareness)
  • Negotiation with raw materials suppliers in the US to optimize pricing & availability
  • The company is now actively growing with a product research program and social media platform- and their challenge is keeping up with demand.
